Are you covered by Medicare?

In order to be eligible to receive a mobility scooter with Medicare assistance you must meet certain requirements. Answer yes to the following questions and you may be eligible for a mobility scooter at little to no cost to you.

  • Do you have a mobility limitation preventing you from performing regular daily activites around the house?
  • Are you unable to use a walking aid, such as a cane, walker, or a wheelchair to perform your daily activities?
  • Are you able to safely transfer to and from the scooter, sit upright, and operate the steering controls?
  • Are you able to operate the scooter safely in your home?

If you answered yes to all four of these questions then you may qualify for Medicare coverage of your scooter. How much will Medicare cover?

Medicare will typically pay 80% of the allowable amount, which can vary by state. By shopping at an online retailer you may realize that most of the prices are below the allowable amount, meaning you would save about 80% from the prices you see. If you have supplemental innsurance they may cover the other 20%, meaning little to no cost to you.
